Assessment Program Overview
The Assessment program is structured to assist the serious
referee in furthering their development as a soccer referee.
The program is divided into two categories:
- UPGRADE - Structured to evaluate
referees in game situations who wish to move up in referee grade.
- RETENTION – Structured to evaluate
referees who have already achieved higher referee grades.
This is an annual requirement for all state
referees (grade 5 & 6) and higher.

Arranging for a Retention Assessment
- Contact the SDA at least 2 weeks in advance of the game date.
- The SDA and the Assignor will work together to assign an appropriate match for you.
- This Chart gives the list of
all referees requiring a retention assessment.
- Payment Procedure – Prior to your Assessment you must mail a check
for $65 made payable to RISRC. The check must be mailed to the SRC Treasurer.
Please note that in general, Assessments expire one year
from the date of the match.
